For both beginning and continuing students, this fun class teaches students how to maximize the flow of Chi, (energy) utilizing the Yang Style 10 Form called "Ping Gate of Life", created by Grand Master Aiping Cheng. You will combine “moving meditation” with gentle revitalizing exercise as you benefit from improved strength, conditioning, coordination, flexibility, and balance. Students also report experiencing increased energy, reduced stress, reduced pain, enhanced sleep, and/or feelings of wellbeing.

- an overview of Tai Chi history and major influences of Tai Chi.
- the Tai Chi philosophy and how it applies to modern living
- the 10 - step Yang Style “Ping Gate of Life” from start to finish
- the principles that are universal to all Styles of Tai Chi.
- Mindfulness and the mind-body connection in Tai Chi.
Yang Style is the most popular Tai Chi style in the world, thanks to Yang Cheng-Fu, who, in the early 20th century, modified the existing Tai Chi Forms to reflect an emphasis on health and wellness, rather than martial arts. As you become more competent in the 10 Form, we’ll introduce other Yang Style Forms as well: the 24 Form, the 108 “Long Form”, and/or the 42 Competition, which includes about 70% Yang postures and 30% postures from other styles.
Instructor: Larry Bates is a certified Yang Style Tai Chi instructor who has been teaching Tai Chi since 2011. He has studied under Grand Masters Aiping Cheng, Kai Ying Tung, and Gao Jia Min, as well as several of their disciples.
Just bring loose-fitting clothes, an open mind, and plan on having fun!
